Description

"Bold. Seditious. Deeply Satisfying. I use to think that Campos "Dark City" set the standard in this category, but wow, what a great Dark Roast this is ! There is caramelised sugar, roasted nuts, and tobacco. Simply delicious as a straight espresso shot." MJ

"One of the best dark roasts I’ve ever tasted. Rich, bold and delicious! Thank you Garage Roasters!" JP

"This dark roast is a bit of a guilty pleasure. Big and bold with more finesse than the usual darker roasts, low acid, not bitter and with a slight ashtray flavour (a good thing!) thrown in. A nice contrast to the other more delicate roasts from Garage Roasters. Mix it up!" P

"Tried Garage Roasters’ Bete Noir and it really hit the spot. It’s got that bold kick you expect from a darker roast, but it’s super smooth — no harsh bitterness. The chocolate and caramel notes come through nicely, especially when you add milk, and the full body makes it a really satisfying cup." DM

Garage Roasters' bespoke darker roast blend exhibits incredible power but also possesses a reassuring level of finesse and elegance.  It is the proverbial iron fist in a velvet glove.  It's roasted darker, and therefore displays more roasty character.  It has a small proportion of high quality Vietnamese Robusta which gives the coffee texture and punch (Robusta has double the amount of caffeine relative to Arabica).  There's the obligatory Brazilian component (hopefully Brazilian coffee will still be available given drought in that country) providing the classic blend characters of chocolate and nuts.  Finally there is a component of Guatemalan coffee which gives the blend a slight and bright lift on the end palate.
