Description

"Bold. Seditious. Deeply Satisfying. I use to think that Campos "Dark City" set the standard in this category, but wow, what a great Dark Roast this is ! There is caramelised sugar, roasted nuts, and tobacco. Simply delicious as a straight espresso shot." MJ

"One of the best dark roasts I’ve ever tasted. Rich, bold and delicious! Thank you Garage Roasters!" JP

"This dark roast is a bit of a guilty pleasure. Big and bold with more finesse than the usual darker roasts, low acid, not bitter and with a slight ashtray flavour (a good thing!) thrown in. A nice contrast to the other more delicate roasts from Garage Roasters. Mix it up!" P

"Tried Garage Roasters’ Bete Noir and it really hit the spot. It’s got that bold kick you expect from a darker roast, but it’s super smooth — no harsh bitterness. The chocolate and caramel notes come through nicely, especially when you add milk, and the full body makes it a really satisfying cup." DM

Garage Roasters' bespoke darker roast blend exhibits incredible power but also possesses a reassuring level of finesse and elegance.  It is the proverbial iron fist in a velvet glove.  It's roasted darker, and therefore displays more roasty character.  It has a small proportion of high quality Vietnamese Robusta which gives the coffee texture and punch (Robusta has double the amount of caffeine relative to Arabica).  There's the obligatory Brazilian component (hopefully Brazilian coffee will still be available given drought in that country) providing the classic blend characters of chocolate and nuts.  Finally there is a component of Guatemalan coffee which gives the blend a slight and bright lift on the end palate.

Great coffee

Just recently bought a new coffee machine and tried this coffee.
Great balance of bitterness and acidity. I drink espresso and my wife likes latte and this coffee bean suits both. Beautiful aroma and nice after taste.
I ordered the coffee one day and picked up next morning. Was so impressed with ease of ordering and picking up.
Keen to try other beans.
Highly recommend Garage Roasters.

Hi Colvin, we really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with Garage Roasters!

Bête Noire, Best Noire.

I always enjoy having a dark roast on hand to mix things up as I drink multiple coffees a day. Bête Noire is now my go to bag of beans, the flavour profile is exactly what I look for in a dark roast. I'd recommend anyone who is looking to step up their espresso game to grab their next bag from Garage Roasters, you will never go back to anything else.

Hi Oliver, thank you for your fantastic review! We're thrilled to hear that Bête Noire has become your go-to and that it meets your espresso expectations. We appreciate your recommendation and look forward to serving you more great coffees!

First try for Garage Roasters

I was looking for a change to my home coffee - use a French Press. The Bete Noir looked the goods on the website and very pleased with how it poured and tasted. Highly recommended and will also try the other roasts as well

B.N - Strong contender

Usually relegated to a lesser level of the coffee hierarchy- dark roast - but this blend really steps up to be strong without the bitterness. Great cup appeal that doesn’t disappoint; another Garage winner in my books.
