Receiving a new batch of green beans is incredibly exciting...
If you've been following my blog for a little while, you'll know that I love the history of coffee and therefore am very enthusiastic about coffee from Yemen and Ethiopia. This morning I received some samples from a potential new Yemen coffee provider. Yemen is war-torn and it's so difficult to source beans. When I do find those beans though, they are so interesting and flavoursome with an earthy almost savoury character which I find irresistible. I'll let you know what I think about these four different samples very soon.
On an entirely different note you may recall a blog post I wrote a few weeks ago about portafilter depth and aspect ratio. Here's a link:
PORTAFILTER DEPTH BLOG POST
I'm a little crazy and moving to the largest 25 g VST portafilter basket wasn't as extreme as I need to go. So I purchased a 28 g Pullman portafilter... just to see.
Well I can confirm that there is such a thing as negative marginal return (the next step beyond diminishing marginal return!). I definitely preferred the VST to the larger Pullman and it was good to satisfy my curiosity on this.
Hope you've enjoyed a fabulous coffee some time this morning!
