The photo at the top of this blog post is a coffee my wife had a few weeks ago...
... a large flat white made with lactose free milk (if you didn't already know, lactose free milk interestingly tastes just a tad sweeter than standard milk... it sort of feels like cheating in terms of that sweetness kick!).
The reason I'm mentioning Helen's morning coffee is that I drink an entirely different coffee. I'm a double ristretto person (sometimes a triple ristretto depending on the portafilter basket of the day).
And the reason that I'm mentioning our two very different coffees is that I often get some interesting comments when I'm at other people's houses and they offer me coffee. Almost everyone I socialise with knows that I'm a coffee roaster, and when it comes to coffee I often hear people say to me something like "don't judge me but...".
I find that sequence of words so fascinating and, to be frank, my policy is that I will try my hardest not to judge someone else about anything... because I'm not keen on being judged by others! I receive lots of emails from customers discussing coffee preparation and the spectrum is amazing and wonderful! I have customers who use a French press with coffee that I grind for them, more than a few use an Aeropress, there are many pour over enthusiasts, lots of stove top users, plenty of people with full on espresso machines, and one client (that I know of) with the rather amazing Decent Espresso machine. Each and every one of these people love their coffee!
So the bottom line here is that... well... you do you. Everyone likes things the way they like them... different preferences make the world go around and differences make things interesting.
Enjoy coffee the way YOU prefer it!
