Coffee experiences in Japan...
Our family enjoyed a quick trip to Japan, our first since the COVID pandemic, and I thought I'd share some of our coffee experiences.
I love the first image, from a coffee shop in Osaka which featured both coffee and whisky. They roast their own on a small Diedrich roaster in the cafe.
The quality of coffee machines and grinders I found to be high. I saw lots of Slayer and La Marzocco espresso machines. Plenty of Mazzer grinders and more La Marzocco Vulcano grinders than I've ever seen before!
Another small coffee shop in Shibuya, Tokyo featured a small shop roaster in the back, an awesome pour over station, as well as a full DJ set up with the coolest jazz flooding the establishment.
One final observation... espresso roast preference in Japan seems to be for darker beans...
